Subtacto Progressive Rock Society started up during autumn 2006 promoting monthly gigs with progressive rock bands in Oslo, Norway.
Our aim is to be able to give both bands into the progressive rock genre and fans of the genre, a chance to play and listen to progressive rock on a regular basis. We want to give new and fresh bands a chance to present their music for fans, and also try to get more etablished bands to play for us.
We also want to put on a yearly progressive rock festival, and our first attempt found place at the Kanonhallen venue in Oslo on august 4th 2007. On the bill where Saga (Canada), Høst (Norway), Magic Pie (Norway), Black Bonzo (Sweden), Retroheads (Norway) and Tr-Ond & The Suburban Savages (Norway). 427 proglovers attended, but we lost almost NOK 300.000 on the attempt.
We willl still put up a festival in 2008, but it will be scaled down to avoid us loosing so much money.
Everyone who works for Subtacto during our club gigs and our festivals does it for free, and nobody is getting money for participating. Everything we get in goes to promote our concerts.
